Counterfeit bolts, bushings, and brackets; well it happens. You just hope that it does not happen in your aircraft, as it did in Convair flight from Oslo to Hamburg in 1989. All 55 people onboard died in the crash, which has become the one to describe the dangers of counterfeit spare parts in the aviation industry. Although it does not occur as often as fake spare parts in the automotive industry, the sudden crash of aircraft somehow has more shocking effect than flaming brakes of Mercedes-Benz. Even the consequences can be as severe in both cases.
